Sushi Booties and Fortune Cookie Feet

A glorious find! These baby booties are made in Oregon City, OR, and are very possibly the cutest baby foot wear EVER! http://www.sushibooties.etsy.com/ presents us with 0-6 mos sized booties that look like sushi rolls, and they're packaged like food. Even more desirable are the fortune cookie booties. You can personalize the fortune, and they come in a take out box. I am seriously hoping for my sister-in-law to have another baby soon (probably not what she's hoping) just so I have somebody worthy of receiving fortune cookie booties as a gift. These are most certainly on my gift list, along with the adorable plush octopus from Softoys that I mentioned a few weeks ago.

gdiapers

I was impressed to see an ad for gdiapers. They're a cross between disposables and cloth, which is highly appealing to me. I seriously considered cloth with my daughter, but it was just a little too far out of my element when it came right down to it.
gdiapers have a disposable, compostable, flushable center, and a cotton/spandex diaper cover with a snap in waterproof liner. Brilliant!
The only draw back is the price. With cloth diapers, you save money over the period of use. With the gdiapers the centers are pretty pricey, and would cost me considerably more than I spend on our disposables. Still, if you have the money but are torn on the idea of cloth, gdiapers seems like a wonderful meld of disposable and cloth.
Visit www.gdiapers.com for more info or to check out their starter kits and shower gifts!
Anybody with further input about gdiapers, please let me know. I'm interested.

Brutally Honest, Sadly Hilarious, Super Alisa

This weekend my familiy went to some kind of fair on the waterfront in Portland. For the most part, it was standard: Carnival rides, people selling ultra cheap sunglasses, free Lays potato chips, tons of greasy food available...you get the picture. But, this weekend at the Handmade NW booth, somebody really grabbed my attention. Portlander Super Alisa sat at her table typing (real typing-on a type writer) on handmade and, I believe, finger painted paper. She was making snarky cards. As I shuffled through some of them, I saw that they were hilarious, mean, and *oh, there's one to address "Dear Self"...I lover her cards. If I had been on my game, I would have shuffled through all of them and picked one for my husband. Our anniversary is this week. Instead, I ran after one of my kids who was dangerously near some expensive glass balls.
So, this morning I visited her blog www.superalisa.com and found the one that's just right. I don't think it will get here in time for us to not celebrate, but it's still funny and a real kick in the pants.
*Note: she also does custom cards. This is a brilliant idea. See Super Alisa next time you need to get something off your chest.

The best toys are from softoys

More American-made products I recently found are handmade in Shelton, WA. This is a family run business, and I was lucky enough to meet some of them over the weekend. I love, love, love all of their products, but my favorite of all is the Octopus. SOOO cute. I guarantee the next babies born into my family or to dear friends are getting gifts from softoys.

Check out their website:
